Women Rights

Thorne’s study led her to discover that boys and girls in the school played in different groups. Neither of the groups interacted in their play. When a pupil of different gender was seen playing with the other group, rebuke always followed, especially if that pupil was a boy. Another aspect of the play was the type of games that the pupils played. The two genders played different games for instance girls would play games such as “chase-and-kiss,” boys, on the other hand, were involved in more soccer than any other games.

Gender has an effect in every setting, whether it is at work, school, a playground or even social settings. When one is born, he/she is expected to act in a particular way that suits their gender. Play is one of the activities that is gendered, women gather to play and get involved in the activities that are considered feminine. Men, on their part, take part in their “masculine activities” in my situation, gender is seen when colleagues take breaks. The groupings always involve men gathering in their spot while women in theirs.

Adults can encourage mixed play between boys and girls by getting involved in the play. The presence of an adult in the activity will weed out the notion that the action is wrong from the pupils’ minds. The presence of the adults gives them the idea that playing together is right because, in their minds, the adults are always right.

The “boy crisis” defined in this reading concern the boy not attaining the behavioral standards that are considered manly. People suggest that certain forces are to blame for inhibiting the boys from realizing their true nature. This is not a real crisis since it is an occurrence caused by “doing gender.” Hypothetically, if gender never existed, an individual, whether boy or girl would follow the path they see fit.

The reason people blame feminism for boys’ behavior is becau the notion of feminism?

Feminism tries to show that gender only exists in the mind, and that one is never inborn. Due to this factor, feminism is considered an inhibitor of the boys’ potential of becoming a “man” hence the crisis.
