Why Same-Sex Marriage should Be Legalized
Why Same-Sex Marriage should Be Legalized
Since the end of the Vietnam War, the role of women in the society has been radically changing. One of the most significant transformations of women’s role in the society is their participation in war. Many women have been remembered for taking the lead in defending America. The entry of same-sex marriage necessitated exchange of gender roles. This meant that women could marry their fellow women and perform the patriarchal duties, even to take up arms and go to the battle field. Without same-sex marriage therefore, Americans could have been possibly defeated on numerous wars that they have declared against other states (McClatchy & Patrick, 2011).
Homosexuals and Lesbians form a significant population of the US. Thus they should not be alienated on grounds of their sexual orientation. Continued acts of stigmatizing these citizens are counter-productive to their social and democratic wellbeing. It is not civil for the most democratic nation in the planet to brand these citizens as possessing negative traits and as such discriminate them. Many gays and lesbians, who often publicly declare their sexual orientations, are not only jeered at, but they also face rejections, are bullied, and at worst murdered. For these incidences to cease, inclusion of same-sex marriage needs to be enshrined in the American constitution (McClatchy & Patrick, 2011).
It is not true that same-sex marriage is against the common good of the society. As a matter of fact, it is for the common good of the homosexuals and lesbians, that same-sex marriage be legalized. Besides, justice should be administered for such groups by granting them their conjugal rights. Organizations terming same-sex marriage as evil do not know the definition of evil. For evil deeds are acts that are detrimental to the very existence of humanity. But same-sex marriage is of arguably no harm to the human generation (Griffiths & Paul, 2003). That being the so, there is no danger that same-sex marriage comes with if adopted.
