What evidence-based practices have been established in teaching math to students with autism?

1- American English not UK

2- Research Literature Review: 12 pages.

Each course participant will develop and write a review of related research around a chosen research topic in education, using appropriate APA format. This will be an opportunity to learn what the research says about a topic. It is expected that the review may be approximately 15-25 pages, including the list of references. The Research Literature Review should include a brief introduction that clearly states the research topic or issue and briefly places it in the context of your actual or potential educational setting. It should tell where this issue comes from and why it might be important within your professional setting.
The review should describe and evaluate a minimum of 10-15 primary research report sources, 2-3 of which could include the following: (a) pioneering studies that give a historical context of the research area; or (b) studies that have defined or coined the important terms or definitions in the field. Your main goal with this project, however, is trying to find the important recent research studies (not people’s arguments or theories!) by the major figures in the field. Your studies should paint a picture of the landscape of the research specific to your research question. Note: If you wish to include secondary sources to provide background or further context, you may do so, but do not count them toward your minimum of 10-15 primary research study sources. The document must conform to APA Style guidelines as described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition. NOTE: Students in the SPED program must use the same topic for this assignment and for their Action Research Plan.

3- Action Research Plan: 11 pages

Develop an Action Research Plan to gain a better understanding of a problem or an issue relevant to your actual (or potential) classroom or school setting, such as classroom management, student grouping options, instructional strategies, curriculum, professional development, scheduling, etc. The Action Research Plan, usually 10-15 pages, should include (a) the purpose of the study and a description of the problem(s) being investigated, (b) a description of the context for the study, (c) an introduction that is supported by relevant literature, (d) a detailed description of the methods and procedures, including a timeline for implementing the research, (e) a description for how the results will be analyzed, (f) a discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the study, and (g) a description of the actions/changes anticipated as a result of the study. The document must conform to APA Style guidelines as described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition. NOTE: Students in the SPED program must use the same topic for their Action Research Plan and their Research Literature Review, and they should be sure to check with their program advisor regarding their choice of topic.
