Paper instructions:
Christ is known to have said: “Give to the emperor the things that are the emperor’s and to God the things that are God’s.” Yet, by 313 AD, with the conversion of the Roman Emperor Constantine to Christianity, we saw the emergence of an “Emperor of God.”  How (and through which legal concepts) did the big ensuing debates, from the decline of the Roman Empire to the Reformation (410 AD-1546), resolve the question of divided power between the rule of God and temporal authority on Earth?
