It is no question that globalization has had a huge impact on the international environment. This impact ranges from social to technological to political.

In your discussion posts this week, you will be debating whether or not globalization has had a positive impact in the world and whether or not geopolitics is still important in today’s rapidly evolving international environment. You will also be revisiting the same Alternate World that you discussed in Week One to compose a case study. In the case study, you will analyze potential threats to national interests, and how states could respond to those threats and challenges in this plausible scenario using various elements of national and international power. DQ 1Diplomacy and Globalization Before you begin, you will want to complete the Quick Review Questions for Chapter 7. These activities are designed to ensure that you have a solid understanding of the key concepts. This week you got to step into the shoes of the President of the United States and deal with an international crisis in the simulation,

You Are the President of the United States. You also were able to experience first-hand how many factors need to be considered when dealing with a foreign crisis. In your text, the author discusses seven different globalization trends that are affecting global diplomacy. Choose one of those trends and contribute additional analysis, evaluation, and real world examples of how that globalization trend is impacting diplomatic efforts around the world. Make sure to draw on what you learned from the simulation and the required readings, as well as from current events.

Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Support your claims with examples from the required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts that have identified a different trend than you by Day 7.
