Several cultures have their creation stories, which they believe to be true. However, these stories have been affected by growing globalization. “The Universe is a Green Dragon: A Cosmic Creation Story” by Brian Swimme tries to explain creation using a dialogue between two people: one named youth who represents the youth, and another named Thomas, who represents a wise old man. This paper will summarize the main points Swimme is trying to put across in relation to creation and the universe.

The universe is a creation that the humans do not have in control, hence the notion “green dragon.” In this book, Swimme tries to invoke the capabilities of the imagination in the explanation of the origin of the universe. According to the wise old manwas a giant explosion n of light that filled everything then. The beginning of the universe can be seen through the light from this fireball “…because the light from its edge reaches us only now, after traveling twenty billion years to get here.”² this light can only be seen through mental creativity. Thomas says, “…but the ability to respond to it required a tremendous development of the human senses.”

The universe itself is a creative structure according to the evidence of non-existence of some features years back. For instance, “there was no ice in the first billions of years of the universe.”³ the knowledge and realization of the creativity of the earth through its continuing evolution gives one the mental ability to comprehend the beginning of the universe from a fireball. The evidence that many organic and inorganic features on the planet earth came from the same origin solidifies the fact that the universe came from a single fireball that exploded to form these things. “The material of your body and the material of my body are intrinsically related because they emerged from and are caught up in a single energetic event.” ⁴

The journey out of emptiness is the creation of love.”⁵ Love is responsible for the whole structure of the universe. Through attraction or “allurement,” all the features making up the universe coexist in harmony. Love is the result of this attraction and is the sole factor in the creation of the universe.

The process of creation is still ongoing. The earth and its forms change daily for instance, technological advances has changed very many things on earth. The downside of this development is the fact that this technology is on the path of destroying the earth. The inception of technology increased the amounts of pollution. The pollution on its part is on the verge of destroying the very vital factor in the evolution of our world, and that is the environment.

In summary, love is the determinant factor in the creation and continued evolution of the cosmos. Several components of love such as attraction are responsible for the model of the universe. Moreover, the occurrences are also a consequence of love. Love made something happen from nothing. Creativity, which is the product of “nothingness,” is a crucial factor in understanding the creation story and the continuing evolution.
