Explain Dazai’s concerns in the context of late Tokugawa and Meiji Restoration and the larger world-system as described by Gunder Frank.

Dazai Shundai lamented that ?large and small Daimyo alike are impoverished and lack financial resources. They are said to borrow from between 10 and 50 or 60 percent

of their retainers? stipends? As this is often still insufficient, they borrow on an annual basis from the large merchant houses of Edo, Kyoto, and Osaka.?

Analysing by explaining the mode of exchange when writing. ex: commodities

the status of classes shifted around 1750 due to growing market as the result of surplus agricultre.

Merchants status go up and shogun’s down, so that shoguns were unhappy and initated nationlism movement.

bakufu movement and revolution.
