The Executive Branch

The Executive Branch

Section 1:

The executive powers of Groomes Island will be delegated to a president who will preside over the citizens to the best of their ability. Upon being elected as president by a majority vote, the president will serve four terms in office. Each term will last for one year. After completion of these four terms, a president may not be re-elected. If a president fails to meet his duties, he may be asked to leave office before the completion of these four terms. If a president is forced out of office or resigns, he may not complete the final years of his terms at a later date. Once the four terms come to a conclusion, a new president will be elected into office.

Section 2:

The President, the head of the executive branch, will be selected through an election. The winner with the majority vote will be sworn in as president. Each citizen of Groomes Island may fill out a ballot at a voting site one time to select the candidate they see as most fit for presidency. If one is unable to vote during the selected voting dates, they may not send someone in their place. After the scheduled voting dates have passed, ballots will be scored and the candidate with the largest number of votes will win presidency.

Section 3:

To qualify as a candidate for presidency, a candidate must meet a certain amount of criteria. First, the president must have been born as a citizen to Groomes Island and must hold residency in Groomes Island for at least ten years prior to being elected. The president must also be of at least thirty years old. Additionally, the president must have a college degree and have completed high school. Finally, the president must have not spent time in a jail facility for committing a crime at any point prior to their election.

Section 4:

If the President becomes incapacitated, they will be succeeded by their Vice President until a new election is held at the completion of the four year term. The Vice President will then assume the duties and roles of the president. Upon this occurrence, the Board of Legislative Leaders* will select their most fit leader to temporarily serve as Vice President until a new president is elected.

Section 5:

The President will assume several powers and duties upon election. These powers include asking for declarations of war, putting members of the Board of Legislative Leaders on trial for unrightful actions, and completing actions of diplomacy and signing peace treaties with other nations. The President also has several duties they must complete. These consist of monitoring military actions and whereabouts, passing and reviewing laws, settling disputes between different factions in Groomes Island, and nominating advisors into his personal staff.

Paragraph:

I chose this structure for the executive branch of Groomes Island because I believe it will be the most successful way to govern a nation. First, I stated that each president will hold office for four years because this allows them to complete major developments, yet isn’t so long that a negative impact would be irreversible. I also included that they may be asked to leave and may not return because I feel it is important for the people to be able to remove a president if they are found too unfit to lead. I selected a majority vote election that way every citizen who votes has an impact and feels like their voice is being heard. My criteria are similar to that of the U.S. constitution in the way that it includes being a natural born citizen and has an age minimum. However, my criteria also include a college degree because I feel that having an educated leader is important to make wise decisions. My constitution is also similar to the U.S. Constitution as it makes the president responsible for military actions and conduct peace treaties. Overall, I selected this structure so that the President can effectively lead Groomes Island.
