Homework 6 Statistics as Evidence: The Consensus on Climate Change

Read the article by Naomi Oreskes entitled The Scientific Consensus on Climate Change published in Science.

http://www.sciencemag.org/content/306/5702/1686.full

or if that doesn’t work I am attaching a separate file that contains a copy of the article.

Also watch this 5 minute video YouTube: Peer-Review in 5 Minutes?

Summarize the findings of the article from the journal Science. What argument does Naomie Oreskes make? What evidence does she use to support her position concerning the scientific consensus about the effect of human activities on climate change? How strong is her evidence? What is it based on? Can we trust scientists? Why or Why not? Can we trust science? Why or why not? What role does peer-review play in her evidence? In a final paragraph summarize the arguments that you would use to a fellow student to present the case that climate change is casually effected by human activities.
