The Bloom Box

 

The Bloom Box, that was the focus of a 60 Minutes program. Since the original broadcast in February 2010, many events have occurred. You will view the program and research articles that have been written about the Bloom Box since the program aired and form your own opinion about the viability of the technology used in the Bloom Box. You will also predict the future for the company, based on the information you learned.

First, watch 60 Minutes: The Bloom Box, CBS News, broadcast date: February 21, 2010. The video is available on YouTube in two parts:

Next, use the Summon tool (http://www.library.arizona.edu/) from the U of A library (be sure to check include newspapers; results can be sorted by date) and/or the Internet to find a minimum of two articles that have been written about the Bloom Box since the 60 Minutes program originally aired. Make certain to use reliable sources and find at least one article that is less than a year old.

 

The Bloom Box uses fuel cell technology, which has existed for many years. Both advocates as well as skeptics were represented in the video. In the articles you found, you should have learned about events that occurred that reinforce the viewpoints of some of those that were interviewed on the program. Formulate your own opinion regarding the viability of the technology and the prospects for the future of the Bloom Box in 250 words or less (excluding references). It must be original and unique. Support your opinion with sound logic. Include references that support your opinion.
