The ability to Identify Research Paradigms

Instructions:

Review four assigned research articles and then record your answers in the individual reporting sheet to answer the

following questions for EACH article:

1.) Does the researcher explicitly state the paradigm used?

2.) What research paradigm best describes the study?

3.) What are the research questions?

You will read the following articles for this assignment:

– Trusty, J. (2000). High educational expectations and low achievement: Stability of educational goals across

adolescence. The Journal of Educational Research, 93(6), 356-365.

– Bokhorts-Heng, W. D. (2007). Multiculturalism’s narratives in Singapore and Canada: Exploring a model for comparative

multiculturalism and multicultural education. Journal of Curriculum Studies, 29(6), 629-658.

– Yuknis, C. (2014). A grounded theory of text revision processes used by young adolescents who are deaf. Exceptional

Children, 80(3), 307-322.

– Siega-Riz, A., et al. (2011). The effects of the HEALTHY study intervention on middle school student dietary intakes.

International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, 8(1), 7-14.

Record your answers in the “individual reporting sheet” that I will upload for your use. It will be graded on the

responses to the questions within the reporting sheet.

For a detailed summary on how this assignment will be graded, I will upload the rubric to refer to.

Please do your best to understand the paradigms and answer as best you can. I will be on the look out for problem items.

The main point is the understanding of the concepts and how you think with those ideas. Below is a overview of detailed

information about how to identify Research Paradigms and Research Questions.

Overview: Research Paradigms and Research Questions

Does the author of a study have a bias—a favored approach to research? The answer is yes, even though the bias is not
