Writing prompt: 350 words

Describe a technical gadget that you carry with you. Examples include iPad, iPhone, iPod, Android, laptop, cellular phone, pocket calculator, etc. Your report should inform the reader the name of the object, who manufactures it, and how it functions.
Remember, this is a technical writing assignment, not a conversation. You should use clear, concise, technical terminology. For example, you may describe how to recharge the battery in your iPad. A technical description should state, “The iPad uses an internal rechargeable lithium- ion polymer (LiPo) battery.” You could then describe the various methods or tools available to recharge the battery. Do not copy or paraphrase information found in manufacturer user guides. This is your opportunity to learn how to write a technical report in your own words.
