SWOT Analysis

SWOT analysis is research that an organization undertakes to pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses that it has internally and its external opportunities and threats.  This assignment seeks to discuss the SWOT analysis for Walmart Company.

Strength

Walmart Company has a well- known brand name that makes its customers quickly identify the company’s products. The company also has its private brand which enables customers to get the best out of their money and enjoy their best selections. The scale operations that Walmart receives from its well know brand name allows the company to attain greater economies of scale in regards to the number of products that it sells.

Weaknesses

Walmart Company has amount weakness that relates to employee discrimination, poor remuneration, unlawful promotions and poor work environment. The poor employee handling has led to the tarnishing of the organization’s name. Walmart Company also has a high employee turnover and a large number of employees who do not have motivation because of the poor remuneration and poor working environment. Some of the products that the company sells are of inferior quality.

Opportunities

The company has the opportunity to avail its products to some of the developing countries that have more disposable income because the economies of these countries still growing. The other possibility that the organization has is to offer new grocery formats like other supermarkets. Considering having their café in retail location would provide an opportunity for the organization.

Threats

Walmart Company faces threats from competition from competitors like Costco and TESCO (Diehl et al., 2017) The major threat that they expose to Walmart is that they work towards shrinking the price difference. The other threat is the increasing social threats as a result of attacks from the community. The final threat is the recessionary periods as it reduces customers’ spending.

Conclusively, the assignment highlights the various strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of Walmart Company as it operates its hypermarkets and grocery stores.
