Students will write a book comparing and contrasting one of the favorite approach to other therapeutic approaches discussed in the course (e.g. Cognitive vs. Psychodynamic, Emotion-Focused vs. Rational Emotive, etc.).
The book will thoroughly address the theoretical assumptions of each approach, the therapeutic techniques characteristic of each approach, the populations and settings appropriate for each approach, and the empirical evidence demonstrating the efficacy of each approach. In addition, students will offer an opinion on how each approach accounts for or reflects the common factors said to be associated with therapeutic efficacy in Duncan, et al. (2010).
