Social Media in US Politics

Social Media in US Politics

Be sure to check your margins. I don’t think yours are proper MLA, at least not how they are
opening up on my computer.
I don’t think your intro, your first sentence or two, or that interesting. I think you can come up
with a much more engaging way to start a paper like this, especially given everything that’s
been going on concerning US presidential elections in the last few years.
Below is what you’ve written as your thesis
If you take a closer look at the first sentence you have three things, what is the – and two are
positives. It’s very confusing that you put these together as if they are all doing a similar type
of thing. And you also write them as if they are given, as if they are fact, and as if they are all
equal, without considering the relationship amongst them. So for example the first thing is
faster dissemination, the other things fall under the umbrella of faster dissemination in the
sense that if what is being disseminated is false it will spread misconceptions or miss
perceptions, and faster dissemination of information could be to better voter mobilization.
These things are not like a list, the relationship amongst them is not the same and you have
to think of that when you’re writing your thesis and when you’re writing your paper.
The second sentence introduces three new ideas but has the same problem, negative then
positives presented as a list. What is the relationship of sentence one to sentence two?
What is the relationship amongst the information in sentence two?
In the third sentence, which I think is meant to be your so what, you switch the order, starting
with the positives and ending with the negatives. This sentence should’ve been the first
sentence, because it explains what you’re trying to do in the rest of the paragraph. But
you’re trying to cover too much here in the way you set it up, and you don’t really have a so
what.
Besides giving a list of positives and negatives what exactly are you arguing here? Right
now I could find this on the Internet because it is only information, there is no real argument
being made. Should we not use social media? Should there be new laws? What is it that
you’re actually arguing with this information
Social media has a big role in US politics because of spreading misperceptions, faster
dissemination of information, voter mobilization. There are many social media platforms use
in political marketing and campaigns such as the spread of fake news, market segmentation
and brand loyalty, social media influence to tarnish others’ reputations. In the US, It has a
positive effect on youth such as access information, social networking, creating awareness.
and negative effects such as misjudging, political polarization.
It is really important that you deepen this into a real argument, otherwise you’re just going to
have information. You can probably use most of what you have but it needs to have a better
frame and a better argument, something that you are building towards not just a bunch of
information about the subject. So please work on that, and go to the writing center if you .
