Servant leadership

Servant leadership is a leadership in which one focuses on the others’ needs before any consideration for his or her own needs. I totally agree with the concept of servant leadership because it acknowledges the other peoples’ perspectives and offers support for their needs and goals. Through servant leadership, it is possible to involve the team members in decision-making and build a community within the team. Servant leadership can also lead to innovation, as all the members are free to express their ideas, which encourages inventions. The leadership also promotes democracy in leadership, which can have a positive effect over a long time.

Servant leadership is a style that I would feel comfortable with because of the good qualities possessed by servant leaders. First, a servant leader does not consider as being higher than others but believes in being first among others are. A servant leader is a team builder who draws strengths from followers and does not dictate. The leader allows everyone to do what he or she can do his or her best, and all of them feel as equal. The servant leader also uses his power with a lot of honesty for the good of the people and does not misuse power. The servant leader also has the understanding of the day-to-day details of the team he/she is leading by associating with them. The

The kind of leadership is not very much realistic today as many leaders are self-centered and want to command and dictate their subjects. In hierarchical and autocratic cultures, managers and leaders make all decisions and servant leaders can only struggle to earn respect.
