Purpose:The purpose of this assignment is to assess your work on an individual level. While the class discussion and collaboration is extremely beneficial to learning the material, you need to show, as an individual, a working knowledge of the course material, such as applying the writing process, reading actively, incorporating analysis, etc. This assignment specifically integrates textual evidence as well.
Goals:Create a well developed response of at least 350 words to the following assignment.
Apply MLA formatting to the essay: 12 pt. Times New Roman font, double-spaced, 1 margins, last name and page number in the upper right hand corner, and a heading including your name, instructors name, class, and date. You can title your work Reading Quiz 3.
Integrate textual evidence using direct quotations with correct in-text citations. Also, provide detailed analysis of those quotations in order to show the informations relevance to your main idea.
Understand and apply standard written English. Use appropriate vocabulary and avoid mechanical and grammatical errors.
Assignment:Use specific examples from Barons The New Technologies of the Word, Turkles How Computers Change the Way We Think, and Bugejas Facing the Facebook, respond to the following:
What is Bugejas argument or stance? How does he support this argument throughout the entire text (include at least three quotations).
How does Bugejas text compare to the other assigned readings? Include quotations from each essay.
Using Bugejas essay and referencing the other essays you mention in number two, how does The Arlington Reader approach technology and education or technology and communication? Is the text positive towards particular technologies or is it negative? Be specific and use quotations.
Make sure to use correct in-text citations and to explain your quotations.
Draft your response to Reading Quiz 3 and upload it as a Word document. Make sure to use the entire writing process by planning, drafting, revising, and editing the work before submitting it.
You will submit your file using this assignment link, similar to submitting your other assignments, such as Reading Quiz 1 and your preliminary drafts. Double check to ensure your submission is successful, and submit the assignment early enough to allow for any possible technical difficulties.
For grading, I will use a scale of 0-10. The content of your response is worth 5 points; the style (grammar and mechanics) is worth 3 points; and the formatting (MLA) is worth 2 points.
