Propaganda

In the society today, there are massive images of acute suffering by different people in different parts of the world. Images displaying different people in various places who are filled with agony spread all over the media as they try to capture the attention of the observers and the neutral people into supporting the affected people. The photos will target different people who have been hit by different calamities that have been brought by various disasters. The disasters are mostly natural arising from the weather conditions but sometimes, it will happen as a result of human error such as fire, causing widespread suffering.

The media will use strong language to portray the plight of the victims by even displaying pictures of those affected by the circumstances. So as to make the donations have a wide scope, the media will use an effective way of donations which they are sure will get to as many people as possible. They might even devise a way to make it publicly known of the people who have donated, filtering out those who have not donated(Bernays and Miller, 2005). The filtering out of those who have not donated will compel different people to raise their donations so as to avoid negative public image.

Charity is an activity that can be enforceable, people will have to do it voluntarily and in good faithcontribution made towards the charity projects are perceived to be a sacrifice which means that those contributing do not suffer any loss in any way, but instead, the amount of money they contribute goes a long way in helping those affected. Some people from the abled background might term the charity course as too demanding since there will always be disasters arising every day on every corner of the world. However, it is their duty no matter how demanding it might seem since the effects that the donations have on the victims is incomparable to the amount that they do contribute. The moral duty the people have towards victims of a certain crisis will mostly limit them on the options they have. It is their duty, no matter how demanding it is to contribute towards the well-being of the people in crisis. The duty will limit people on the available options as they have to act on interest not best to them, but rather they have to act to the interest of the victims(Brandenberger, 2011).

The ideology of “global village” will mostly be used to push the idea of charity across. Neither the distance from the crisis that one is nor number of people involved in the crisis should influence or lessen the amount or the obligation of commitment towards helping the victims. No person should think of treating people who are far away differently from those that are close. Every person should contribute towards helping the affected victims no matter of the distance between them or their

crisis. For this reason, people might feel like their role is insignificant. At this point, it makes it necessary for the media to bring in the issue of personal relationship with the victim(Pronay and Spring, 1982). The media will try its best to portray the existence of personal relationship between the victims and the members of the society. If the people pushing the propaganda are successful in portraying a personal relationship between the public and the victims of various crisis, the propaganda will record high amount of success. Bringing personal relationship between the victims and the people involved is an art since it will involve the use of crafted language to lure the public to act towards contributing.

The main reason some ideologies will succeed while others will fail is the ability of the media to

One of the most successful ideologies to succeed in t(Sproule, 1997).However, some charity ideologies have miserably failed due to different reasons some of which are as shown below.

The charity will focus on short term problems which are the symptoms, but not on long term problem which is developing a solution to avoid a repetition of the same in the future(Mercier, 1917). Most charity calls will fail to receive the deserved attention if they are repetitive. Most charity organizations and the government will play little or no role at all to avoid repetition of particular happenings in the future. For this reason, people will only give a positive feedback to the charity for the first times, beyond this, people will rarely respond to a subsequent call. However charity projects that are aimed at long lasting issues will mostly receive immediate attention, but the problem with the long term solutions is that they will be expensive to fund. To establish long term solutions to problems, it will be required that there be put measures to combat the same, it will mostly require huge investments. To achieve the success, the project will mostly be broken into different phases.

One of the most relevant cases in this study was the report that was given by BBC about the Japan to have an exaggerated view about current situations.

The information draught in Africa has also seen major distortions, although there is draught in many parts of the continent, it has been exaggerated by the humanitarian organizations. A major way that the media will use is photographs; they will give tragic photos of individuals who seem to be on death threats(Destexhe, 1995). This will act to arouse the feelings of those in a position to help, out of the emotional connection between those suffering and those who are in a position to help; more people will contribute towards the course. The reason they will mostly contribute is due to the pressure of giving, mostly, those who are in a position to help, but do not will be termed as spectators and to avoid this, they will most likely contribute out of that pressure.

However, as much as photography of the current conditions is important, it is good if the portrayal of the plight remains in a certain bracket that is meant to just arouse sympathy within the observers. Some extreme pictures and clips will just arouse fear and feeling of helplessness among the individuals. If there is a display of cases that have gone beyond the controllable levels, the target party will feel helpless and term the problem as beyond their control. The observer will have no emotional relation with the current extreme conditions and for this reason; individuals will not have any time to look closely at the cases of those that are affected(Hutchinson, 1996). The only positive effect that the extreme photos will have is that they will have long lasting effects on the individuals; the photos will stick into the mind of the individual people. The long lasting effect might have a motivating factor to the individuals encouraging them more to contribute. The government, in order to create a sense of urgency, will release falsely biased scientific and other findings; this will create a sense of urgency in action which will be backed by the emotional language that they use(Lerner, 1972). Emotional language from the powerful people will tend to attract more people into action and with a fast mind.
