Progress Report

Simons is a well-performing company that is liked, productive, and has gained investors’ confidence over a long period especially owing to the activities of the executive team. The board of directors is keen to the decisions made by the company and expects them to make aggressive but conservative business choices. Over time, the company has shown interests in numerous global markets thus it is ready to traverse different cultures and different professional settings to expand its growth. Thus, each and every deliberation is not easily predictable. For this reason, Simons carry out all its business in a formal and professional manner in its internal and external communication. The company has a well-formed structure which includes the CAE, CAO, CCO, CBO, and COO with their responsibilities. This internal system works in a unique way that has never existed in other companies.

Introduction

Given that our company is growing bigger every day, I believe it is within our mandate to begin publishing of CSR report for the company. In order to survive globally such as through having of businesses in different regions and across cultures, CSR report will be very significant to clients and stakeholders. The importance will be seen as the report will assist in understanding what the groups did and the overall goal in the future. Thus through CSR I will be able to submit a CSR report. At Simons, I am CAE and the tasks that are bestowed upon me include directing the internal project which entails composing all tasks that are not completed by the CAO. I am also expected to respond to the CCO’s request for PR content regarding the higher speed rail contract. In my job description, I am to approve the AAGEE. Lastly, I am supposed to compose a report describing the progress made that I had made on the internal project and submit it to the CAO.

I did research on the CSR report and made a presentation about it. In my presentation, I did a power point to introduce CSR report and the benefits of making a report to the group. In my description, I included examples of three companies in my report. The description is to assist the coworker to commence undertaking of the project so as required by the boss. In my description, I included the following.

Description of a Corporate Social Responsibility Report

A CSR report captures the steps and methods that a company or a firm takes to enrich or help the surrounding community or environment. The CSR report acts as evidence that the company has progressed and gone past the ethical and legal requirements to benefits individuals. In this report, there are programs that organizations are taking part in the last one year and what the organization plans to undertake in the future for both local and global community. The programs at times include environmental items or social activities that help the people in the community. Thus, the CSR report acts as a yardstick of the activities of the company and the activities that the company has done for the community. These activities show the interest of the company in the community and that the company is investing in the community and has positive impacts on the society generally.

The CSR report should contain the following important aspects:

There must be show of the present, past and future goals as well as financial statements for what have been done. The financial statements also help in highlighting the incurred expenses of the company and the manner in which the resources have been spent. Thus, a CSR report represents the activities and projects that have been undertaken by the company during a period of one year. The projects might include those that were started in the past, but came to completion during the year of financial representation. The sales and acquisitions made during the project should be put into the financial statement to ensure that the shareholders can have a picture of how the resources of the company were spent in a specific project.

Therefore, the CSR report should not concentrate too much on the past projects but more concentration should be on the projected plans to be carried out (Cragg, 2009). Therefore, a good CSR report focuses briefly at the past but puts more emphasis on the future projections as well as expenses and resources that are required to venture into another project for the community.

Secondly, the report has the projects that the company has carried out and their success over the years. A good report is one that will outline all the advantages that the community has accrued as a result of the efforts of the company. The report usually enlists all the activities and projects that have been undertaken in the past and assesses its success for the local or global community. The projects and activities that are undertaken by the company are the integral part in not only convincing the shareholders but also the customers and other potential investors on the benefits that the company has to the locals (Hunnicutt, 2009). Therefore, there should be proper listing of each of the activities with the advantages highlighted in each case. Thus, the above are the integral parts of the CSR report though the schedule and structure largely rely on the individual company given that there are no set standard for writing a CSR report.

Therefore, a CSR report begins with a statement of how the company incorporates its activities and businesses with assisting the community as well. The introductory part should be well written given that the reader first goes through it prior to reading the remaining segment of the report. Therefore, the introductory part should highlight the commitment of the company to be socially responsible and its belief in being of assistance to the community. After writing the introductory part, there is a need of dividing the rest of the report into main segments such as a society, environment, the people, supply chain and other divisions depending on the beliefs and the goals of the company (Hunnicutt, 2009).

The report like any other should also contain a conclusion paragraph where there is clear statement on what the company intends to do with the feedback and contributions of other individuals or partners as far as achieving of targets is concerned as highlighted in the report body. The description of the CSR report will go in a long way assisting the coworkers in doing their projects.

After preparation of the CSR report, I contacted the COO whom I requested to organize a meeting with an executive at AAGE. I had to carry out review before proceeding with it. I proceeded by writing up a summary of the AAGEE meeting and requested suggestions for the proposal. Upon getting the suggestions, I proceeded to write a proposal for an AAGEE external review which I submitted to the CBO and the CCO.

The deliberations on AAGEE meeting were as follows:

Given that AAGEE is non-profit organization, and they want us to invest in them, I strongly opine that investing in AAGEE would help revamp our image and it is a good point writing in our CSR report for contributions in the social. I also need the COO to assist CCO’s PR project given that the blood test discovery can be quite wonderful to PR, and I will include it in CSR report. Additionally, as I seek to advance the high-speed rail train as required by the Simons. I have attached a list of expectation that some people may tend to accept or decline, but the main point is that we should be able to PR the two projects on our CSR report. Finally, we shall pay attention to our clients and the various stakeholders given that publishing of the CSR report would give everyone a chance to see our sales and trade with our company as well as seek to be a business partner.

I then proceeded to email the CBO and asked about his idea on what he expects the client to be and act. In my mail, I bring to the attention of the CBO about the publishing of the report. I proceeded to highlight the importance of such publishing to the company, among others I acknowledge that the publishing would help improving the social image. Other main advantages of publishing the CSR report would include helping customers, stakeholders, investors and clients to better comprehend the achievements, as well as the social responsibilities of the

Overall, I believe that this is a good project given that our company is to gain massively from its proceeds. Further, the company is expected to give back to the society through its CSR projects. Simons has outlined the components of CSR report and its advantages to the society at large. Thus, I highly anticipate that the benefits of the projects will have spillover effects to all the investors, stakeholders and industry players.
