Assignment Purpose:

The purpose of this assignment is twofold: 1) To further help develop your research and information-finding skills. 2) To explore deeply a major issue in Population Geography

Assignment Details:

In this assignment you will choose a major issue in Population Geography. You will research and write a 1800-2400 word (6-8 pages) argumentative research paper.

To begin, you have two choices to make:

URBANIZATION AND OVERPOPULATION

Because Population Geography is the study of people and places, you must also consider where this is an issue. Where will your study focus?

Assignment Technical Details:

Your assignment must be between 1800 and 2400 words (this is about 6-8 Pages), 12pt font, Times New Roman Font, with 1 inch margins on all sides.

This is an argumentative research paper.

You must include a minimum of 9 sources. These must include:

You are encouraged to also include maps, data, and images. If you do, these will be in addition to your 6-8 pages.

Components of a Paper

Your paper should be argumentative in character, which means you need to develop your own perspective on the issue. In developing your argument, consider the following:

1) What is your thesis (meaning, what is your main point)?

2) What do other people have to say about this issue (these ‘people’ are your research)?

3) Why is this topic important within Population Geography?

4) Why is this topic important where your study focuses?

5) Can you offer a projection on the future of this issue within your specific context?

However, this is an essay, so you should not address these in turn, but should consider them within your paper.
