Discuss the use of rhyme and meter in the poetry of at least two of the poets we have considered. How does the rhyme scheme help us to understand a poem? Is there a natural meter to the human voice? 2.Discuss all of the poems we have read by a single poet. What are the similarities between these poems? What are the common themes? What differences are evident? You might also include some biographical discussion. 3. Religion is clearly an element of poetry in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. What kind of role does it play in the nineteenth and twentieth century? Does it still provide the basis for the poets view of the world? Does it continue to provide meaningful metaphors and conceits?
