The issue of protecting infrastructure in the United States has been an issue of concern, based on the fact that the vital infrastructure has become a target for terrorism and other forms of crime.
Question 1
the- based organization (Branaugh, 2013).
The churches in America, which are a major target for crime, have to take their position in protecting their congregation, the staff who work in the churches and all the volunteers (Hawkins, 2010). They could do this by training their members while taking precautions, and changing some of the operations done in the church for them to be more prepared for attacks. It will enable them handle the criminal activities in an informed manner and create a peaceful haven for its people. Without taking military style defensive positions in the religious gatherings which could compromise their faith, these organizations could create evacuation plans, have contacts of the security guards whom they could call in case of an emergency, and introduce a security awareness posture in the compounds (Harrell, 2010).
Question 2: Physical security implementation
Because of the increased insecurity in churches, advanced technology like use of cameras mounted in the church to detect any terrorist and take the information to the security heads would not obstruct the parishioners (Branaugh, 2013)
Question 2: Buy-in
In order to build buy-in for security enhancements in a house of worship, it is important to involve a third-party logistics provider, who makes significant investments in the technology used to manage supply chain efficiency. The third-party logistics traces daily management of the enhancement and report in detail for long-term strategic planning. It is also important to talk up the enhancements of security. The third-party partner could give assistance in navigating new regulations and give advice on the best ways to improve security policy and procedures.
Question 4: Comparison
Protection of faith-based organizations facilities and other critical infrastructure in the U.S is quite different. The U.S Department of Justice and the U.S Department of Homeland Security offer technical assistance, training and evaluation without cost to groups involved in providing security to houses of worship, while those who protect other critical infrastructures are charged. While protecting the other critical infrastructure, there is use of violent military force, which is not the case with the faith-based organizations as they are considered to be havens for peace (Harrell, 2010).
