MY IDEA
Objective : finding STEAM Education school Model in order to develop full potential Qatari citizens creating skilled people. ( school should have gifted education programs, research opportunities, teachers training and collaborative teacher work)
achieving Qatar National Vision:
Creating knowledge base economy (describe knowledge base economy according to national vision), for that we need to reform educational system in a way to produce high qualified skilled individuals.
“The system will provide citizens with excellent training and opportunities to develop to their full potential, preparing them for success in a changing world with increasingly complex technical requirements. The system will also encourage analytical and critical thinking, as well as creativity and innovation. It will promote social cohesion and respect for Qatari society’s values and heritage, and will advocate for constructive interaction with other nations.”

Issues in STEAM Education
STEM/ STEAM Education in Qatar has no specific definition or clear contextualization in Qatar Education
There are no qualified teachers training specifically for STEAM Teachers (characteristic of STEAM teacher, Who is a steam teacher)
Available programs is “alternative programs” (such as albairaq) http://www.qu.edu.qa/offices/research/CAM/ but there are downfalls to them
1) they do not cover all public schools, just selected schools ( and selected students)
2) They do not cover all ages, just middle and high school
3) Training only for students, school teachers have no role
4) It’s an afterschool program, not integrated within a curriculum
Using “K-12 Reform in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries: Challenges and Policy Recommendations” I will try to find a school module , or selected schools to see if they are applicable to our educational system
