Persuasive Paper
The purpose of this assignment is to apply the concept of business persuasion to an organizational context. The instructor will provide students with a scenario in which the student will attempt to persuade an audience to adopt (real or hypothetical) a new direction (i.e., develop a new business process, product, and/or service). In the process of persuading, the student must provide concrete and tangible directives for the organization including evidence supported by research.
Our Individual persuasive essay will be on self-driving cars. Google has led this innovation while DMV laws have yet to approve of this technology, and other automotive companies have yet to fully embrace this concept – though they are implementing some changes such as adaptive cruise control and auto-parking functions. Do you think Google will pave the way to changing the way we drive, or is this destined for failure? Are we a nation of drivers? Will regulation be too big of a hurdle to overcome? Assume the role of persuading a large automaker to embrace your position, keeping in mind what you’ve learned about corporate culture and persuasive technique.
The paper must include at least four aspects of persuasion, (including clear awareness of audience and establishing credibility), data to support the proposed organizational direction, and logically supported conclusions.
Paper length: 5-7 pages. At least five pertinent and current (five years or less) references must be used to support students’ own original analysis and properly cited adhering to APA format. The instructor may provide additional instructions about the assignment.
