PBL Exercise 2: Designing flexible work

You are head of People Management for a large airline.
(NB Choose either AirAsia or Virgin Blue or Emirates.)
You are responsible for the working conditions of a diverse workforce
including pilots, flight attendants, maintenance workers, cleaners, baggage
handlers, call centre operators, and office workers.
They all want different flexible work or leave arrangements to help manage
work-life balance. You want to attract and retain good staff, but careful
management of costs is critical to your organisations competitive success.
Your boss has asked you to draft an initial proposal with examples of specific
flexible work or leave arrangements for each of three different representative
worker groups.
He wants each of the examples to have some rough cost-benefit calculations
attached, to demonstrate their potential value to the organisation.
Your next door neighbour works for the government, and she has suggested
that a good resource to give you ideas for this work is The Work and Family
Balance Manual (2007)Write a proposal for your boss as specified.
