Overview
The law in Panama tends to deal with the people who are accused in criminal offenses by
the use of two main procedures. The first procedure is the trial system which is especially used
for the major crimes. The second procedure is the use of the police magistrate system that mainly
focuses on the minor offenses. In the case of confrontation, the client always seeks counsel early
enough using the first opportunity in order to try and acquire justice. The law in Panama does
provide for a public defender when accusations take place and the client does not have the funds
necessary in order to hire a private attorney. The constitution in Panama also requires that all the
