PRESENTATION & LAYOUT

The overall quality of the assignment presentation will count towards the final grading.

Title Page:
The finally agreed title should be placed at the top of the first page, within the margins. Your full name should follow on a separate line below the assignment title.

In the page footer you should indicate your name, course, followed by Business Development (H) and the date of submission.

The word count of the assignment (text only, not to include abstract, references, etc) should be entered at the bottom right-hand side of the page.
Grammar and Spelling
If you use the spell checking facility on your word processing software, please remember that it is still important to proof read before final submission as some words can be correctly spelled but have the wrong spelling for the context. You can expect to be penalised and loose marks for errors of grammar and/or spelling.

Please make sure you have thoroughly checked that your final copy is complete, as marks can be lost for missing paragraphs, pages, diagrams, etc.

Style
The style of writing in the main text should be dispassionate and as much as possible impartial. Emotive language is not appropriate. As you are not required to write a reflexive piece of work, the third person, past tense, should be used. If in doubt, please speak to your assigned advisor.

It is a good idea to read some examples of academic papers to get an idea of the kind of style and format generally used. There are many examples of literature reviews in the form of academic papers available online.

Page Layout
Please ensure you allow a minimum of 4 cm on the left margin and 2.5 cm on other margins.

The Business development assignment text must be word-processed, using:

• 12 point font for Calibri or Times New Roman or 11 point font for Arial.

• One and a half line spacing.

• Page numbering throughout the entire text from contents to references. Appendices may need their own page numbering. Place page numbers in the page footer and on the right hand side.
Structure
The following basic structure is required as a minimum:

• Title
• Abstract
• Introduction (indicating the importance and interest in the topic)
• Main text (consisting of sections but not numbered)
• Discussion and Conclusion
• Acknowledgements (when included)
• List of references in alphabetical order (do not use centre page positioning)
• Appendices (unlikely to be necessary, but where necessary should include approved ethics form)
There is often a lot of confusion over what to put into the abstract and introduction sections and the difference between references and bibliography.

The introduction section should firstly give the rationale behind what is being explored in the assignment. The aims and objectives of your assignment should also be highlighted in this section.

The abstract is a summary of your assignment. Particular care should be taken over the abstract. If it is poorly focused it will suggest a lack of focus generally. It must be concise.

The reference list should only contain those sources which you actually referred to (cited) in your assignment, whereas, the bibliography is a list of all those sources you looked at – which gives detail of the breadth and scope of your reading. You must make sure you include a reference list at the end of your paper. You do not need to include a bibliography.
