There is consistency between what has been learnt in class and the IBMs precepts that are contained in their training programme. This is because the factors involved in developing a good leadership involvement with the employees must include these precepts. For example, the aspect of communication must be employed in every aspect of leadership for it to be successful (Judge & Robbins, 2011). Negotiating collaboratively makes sure that a leader is able to explain their vision to the other stakeholders in a business organization. Passing information to the members of the organization is a way of ensuring. They all cooperate with the management and the leadership to implement the set goals.
Sharing the leader’s vision with the employees enhances embracing the vision by all the stakeholders in the organization. A good leadership is one that is open to the employees such that the employees understand what the management plans. The leadership should also make sure that it maintains a good network with the employees so that some are not lost on the way. This will also make the employees feel the ownership of the decisions made the management.
Besides the keys listed in the excerpt, there are other ways of persuading employees to make them achieve in a business organization. Rashid, Asad and Ashraf (2011) outline some of the factors of influencing employees to be employee involvement, instituting reward system policies and performance appraisal among others. Influencing employees in ways which will make them to be intrinsically motivated are among the best ways to achieve success in an organization. Rewarding performance means that employees will try their best to attain the qualifications of the reward. Appraising performance makes employees to work hard because they have hopes of being promoted if they achieve.
If one has a manager who would suggest that an employee does something that the employee had viewed in a different perspective, the principle of negotiating collaboratively can be applied to bring an understanding between the employee and the manager. This is because by negotiating, the manager will be able to share the reason for their stance with the employee. Further, the employee will feel involved in decision making and own the decision. This will lead to organizational performance.
It is true to say that generational values are changing employee-employer relationships. The value system of a business is determined according to the changing situations in the business world as influenced by the generation of managers that has compiled the values. Personal values do affect the collating of a value system by the management (South University Online, 2013). Therefore, in today’s generation it is agreeable that the beliefs held by the society be reflected by the business organization in the value belief system.
It is important for a management team to adopt a program that is followed in training employees to make sure that all the employees have an effective reporting system. This will see all stakeholders working towards a common goal. It will also make sure that implementation of set policies from the management level has a smooth flow. Further, it warrants that the value belief system of the organization reflect the expectations of the society at that particular point in time.
