Organisational behaviour -motivation

Topic: Organisational behaviour -motivation

Description: [?]

Preferred language style: English (U.K.)

hello, this is motivation case study and there are 3 questions to be
answered, this assignment does not need a full introduction but a
sentence to explain each theory used would be appropriate.

the three questions are:

1. how can equity theory explain the motivation of employees working
at Patagonia?

2. to what extent is Patagonia’s approach to employee motivation
consistent with expectency theory? discuss.

3. what elements of Locke’s theory are in evidence at Patagonia.

OB assignment checklist:
– read through the theories and understand how to actually use them to
motivate someone
– use headings
– make sure the literature is integrated.

here are some hints from the tutor:
no intro no conclusion,
straight answers,
assume the reader understands the theory,
no references before the year 2000,

and heres more info:

Final reminder about the theories in the assignment( check with the
study guide):

When applying Adams’ theory you MUST have a comparison other
When wishing to apply Expectancy theory, the following steps can be
applied if you want to provide some calculations:
Identify the range you want to use for V( equidistant around zero)

Choose WHAT the V value is for. In other words what is it that the
employee desires.

This then becomes what the motivating force is targetting (MF)

Choose the value for V and give reason for the value.

Identify what the employee needs to do to get the “V” and what
expectation that they can achieve the task. This then is the value for
E( WHICH IS ONLY IN THE RANGE 0 TO 1) and give reason for the value

Determine HOW MUCH THEY TRUST THE ORGANISATION TO FULFIL the promise
of giving them what they are after (this is also in the range from 0
to 1 and is the I in the formula)

Do the calculation and if it is high and positive then the employee is
highly motivated to perform the task.

and if there are any calculations, or graghs they can go into the appendix

thank you very much and i will send the casestudy attachement as soon
as possible
