militaristic actions of Japan through the early part of the century.

Explain the militaristic actions of Japan through the early part of the century. How did imperialism affect Japans involvement in World War II? How is Japanese imperialism in Asia different or similar to European imperialism in Asia? How did losing the war, ultimately lead to Japans

It is undeniable that Japan was indeed at the center stage of World War II. The Japan’s military attack of Pearl Harbor acted as a historically significant point in which Japan was stripped of its imperial prowess. Even before World War II Japan was already in control over Kuril Islands, Korea, Taiwan, and Shandong among others. One of the primary reasons for this imperial military approach was arguably to secure more resourcesfor economic development and to empower wars during subsequent wars. During the World War II the list of imperial territories went up to more than 20 with major territories being mainland China, Hong Kong, Thailand, and British New Guinea among others. The imperial acquisition of territories around Japan was particularly significant in securing Japan geographically from its enemy states as this meant that enemy countries would need to traverse the imperial territories before reaching Japan’s mainland.

Before 1931, Japan was an imperialist and operated according to the acceptable imperialist behavior but left the framework in 1937. Japan had grievances against Britain and America especially because the Western refused to accept Japans equality to Europeans and Americans and restraining the Japanese trade with them. Americans and British also could not give Japanese some freedom in Manchuria in Latin America and there were bad policies relating to Japanese immigration. The US had a GNP, which was five times larger than that of Japan and was far much technologically developed with greater access to raw materials. There was an argument by the Japanese leaders such as General Araki that the armed force of Japan could defend the country with only bamboo spears. Earlier on, Japan benefited from a friendly relationship with Britain and America since they were more advance both industrially and economically. In fact in several occasions the Japanese military depended on them for new technology and supply for raw materials. Going to war meant that Japan would become enemies to the two powerful countries

Japan had won victory on various wars as some of the countries had no unity and countries such as the United States did not want to engage in wars. However, Japan Bombed the Pearl Harbor in November 7, 1941 infuriating the Americans. Many other nations had economic challenges and did not want the wars to do more damage to their economy. The Japanese military was actively engaging in wars killing millions of people and in 1945 August Bombed Hiroshima leading to the death of many civilians and military personnel. There was a big war between Japan and the Soviet Union military, in which Japan was defeated and surrendered on August 15, 1945. After the signing of the surrender bill, postwar development started in Japan, and the US president Harry Truman ended any hostilities between the two countries. Japan started rebuilding its economy and later regained its independence after which it formed the land, air, and sea defenses were formed for defense purposes. The country also formed a police unit in agreement with the constitution. The country established the Japan Self Defense, which is one of the armed forces with the most advanced technology in the world.

The treaty signed in 1960 allowed American military to have its bass in Japan such as Okinawa. Japan also agreed to avoid the use on nuclear power and the production of conventional arms and its military nowadays does noncombatant tasks such as aiding victims of natural disasters such as earthquakes. The force also provides administrative support and rebuilding the nation in addition to offering assistance to other countries such as Iraq.
