Fully explain with relevant examples, the risks associated with the carriage of iron ore in bulk by sea.

With shippers pushing to load vessels (Ore Carriers) at over 100,000 tonnes per day the stresses and strains on bulk carriers are exceeding their limits. It has been some years since we have seen an incident such as when the OBO Trade Daring’ broke its back whilst loading ore at Ponta Da Madeira in 1994. It is believed that the combination of the ultra large Ore Carriers together with (Vales) plans for single pass will significantly increase the likelihood of an accident. (Alphabulk 2012)
Explain the concerns expressed in the above short article and describe how ship and shore operators can cooperate to mitigate the risk of structural failure of an Ultra Large Bulk Carrier.
