Management theories

Management theories help in increasing the productivity of organizations to improve the quality of services. Many managers use two or more theories in their management of the organizations depending on the purpose, workforce, and workplace. There are a number of management theories such as contingency theory, systems, and chaos theory. To understand organizational management a comparison of systems and chaos theory and how they are implemented will be important will be important.

Systems theory argues that managers should have an understanding of how various systems affect the employees and how the employees affect the systems around their workplace. The theory helps the managers to understand the patterns and issues at the workplace to assist work as one single unit.

System theory has a great significant impact on the organizational management to achieve the overall goals of expansion and growth. When an organization use inputs such as raw materials, the new technology, money, and human resource, the management always has a goal of increasing productivity. There are many external influences from the society, the government, and technologies that may hinder an organization from achieving its set goals. However, with the system theory, managers can receive advice from consultants, educators, and writers to enable them look at the organization from a broader perspective. The managers can interpret events taking place in their organization and any patterns as well as realise the interrelations of the organization departments. The departments may deal with supervision of the workers, coordination of various departments, and many other important aspects that help in the organizational growth. System theory is important as it has helped managers to concentrate on various departments at the same time unlike before when they could give all their attention to only one part before moving to the next.

Chaos theory helps the management to act on the organizational events that are very difficult to control.

Systems theory puts emphasis on the way the organized systems adapts and copes with the changes in the external business environments. The theory helps in maintaining organizations structures intact and requires organizations to interact with the outside actors and identify any important factor that can help in decision-making. The organization looks at the major threats or important opportunity and compares the response and its previous response to a similar issue. The systems theory is applied in engineering, management, and computing to help in the decision-making by putting into account the resources required and any risks associated with the action taken. The benefits and costs are the other considerations when applying the theory since the management decisions can build or bring down a big organization. For instance, an engineering firm may want to know the threats that the company may face during its business operations using the system theory. The company may compare its employees with the employees of the other similar companies and see how their systems work to improve the employee’s morale for higher output.

The main application of the chaos theory is in which the management steps back from their daily management practices and see how the organization can work as a unified system. Some organization patterns can result in certain behavior employees, groups some autonomy, and enacts multiple iterations of it functioning until all the organizational pieces work together with effectiveness. The organization takes natural phenomena to instill some order in its operations.

In conclusion, system theory, and chaos theory are important in many organizations to enable the management to make good decisions for their business operations.
