How are written and visual texts constructed (ie: use of language, description, structure, image, author/filmmaker’s self-representation, etc.) to create particular renderings of the people, ideas, and debates that inform understandings of the African diaspora? For this essay, engage this question of representation through a comparison of one of the ethnographies that we have read in the course (one that you did not engage in Take Home Exam #2) and one of the ethnographic/ documentary films viewed in class.
