Legal Risk Management Plan .

Assignment:
You have been hired by Ms. Scupper as a legal risk management consultant.  Ms. Scupper wants you to prepare a comprehensive Legal Risk Management Plan for her start up

sailboat charter business.  She wants to call the business “Nova Scotia Sailing Charters” and has already been using this name on her advertising.
Her idea is to buy a sailboat and take people out for sailing excursions along the coast of Nova Scotia.  She wants to be the captain and hire a small crew to help her

sail, serve alcohol, and sell memorable items (t-shirts, mugs etc. … that bear her business logo or a Nova Scotia-related logo) to customers.  Local seafood will be

prepared and served on the boat by the crew as well.  A local entertainer will be on board on certain excursions to play Nova Scotia songs.
During the busy part of her season she will take between 8-12 people at a time for either a day sail or for more extended sailing excursions along the coast.  In her

slower season, she will lease her boat to a sea school as a training vessel.
Ms. Scupper has begun making relationships with selected golf courses and resorts situated along the coast in order to coordinate possible sail and gulf or sail and

stay packages.
Ms. Scupper also wants to make an arrangement with the NS Government or a coastal community for permission to tie her boat up at one of its wharves in order for

customers to go on and off the boat.  If this is not an option, she will keep her boat in a bay on a mooring and use a small boat to carry customers to and from her

boat.
Ms. Scupper will either lease or purchase a van to transport customer groups to and from the boat.
