30% will be a 5-page policy memo final exam. Students will take up the role of consultants to a Latin
American government, an international organization or Latin America related regional body (Inter American
Development Bank, Organization of American States, UNASUR or an agency of the US government working
with Latin America). It could also be a corporation. The memo has three components that must be there:
-Presentation and summary of the issue.
-Possible courses of action (identify the clients interest, lay out options and the costs and benefits of those
options)
-Recommendation and justification of the reasons for it.
Model policy and business memos are included in the course pack reading materials
Failure to submit or fulfill any required course component results in failure of the class.
