Overview It is critical that you are able to ascertain whether nutrition claims that you read/hear in the popular press are backed up by high-quality, appropriate, peer-reviewed literature. In this assignment, you will be asked to use popular press to find a nutrition claim that interests you and then conduct a literature search to find 3 scholarly papers describing studies that have been done to assess the validity of the claim. This assignment is worth 100 points. DO NOT CUT AND PASTE DO YOUR OWN WORK.
Part 1 Find a health claim that is part of a feature article in a popular press magazine (examples would be Self, Men’s Health, Shape¦etc.) Article must be minimum 2-pages (not a blurb in the margin!) Provide citation for popular press article.
Part 2 Recap claim being made in the popular press article (should take about 3 sentences).
Part 3 Locate three scholarly articles about the claim from 2000 or later through the WSU library include citations and recaps. Identify the article as primary research or review.
Part 4 Summarize the findings of each of the three articles individually. (Approximately a paragraph for each article).
Part 5 Essay Do the scholarly articles support the claims made in the popular press article? Fully? Conditionally? Not at all¦.describe. (Combine the information from your articles. This should be approximately 3 paragraphs)
