In Drosophila, “vermillion” is a an X-linked mutation which changes the eye color. This mutation is recessive and the wild type allele is dominant. Males with normal color of their eyes were mutagenized and then mated with vermillion-eyed females. The following progeny was obtained: 10, 007 males with vermillion eyes; 9,991 females with wild type eyes; and 2 females with vermillion eyes. What is a
mutation rate from the wild type allele to the vermillion allele in father’s gametes?
