Pictures are known to have a significant effect on people more that rhetoric and even written words. Indeed, photographs have a certain capability of sticking in the minds of the people hence influencing their perceptions. Since the time immemorial, pictures have been utilized in relaying various forms of information. This may be because of their ease of comprehension or perhaps their attractiveness. This essay will review two photos and their effects on the perceptions of an individual.
The first photo is about a soldier fully dressed in army regalia shooting a young boy just because he is a rebel. More times than not, young boys in Vietnam have been recruited to serve the gangs, rebels and several other armies existing in the country. This picture confirms the existence of such situations in the country. However, that is not the only comprehension obtained from the picture. Perhaps, the main perception obtained from the picture is the cruelty of the Vietnamese soldiers. This young boy could be reformed to become a better person; however, the soldier chose to execute him on the street. This picture brings a lot of pain and suffering. The public can feel the cruelty of the soldiers through this picture.
The second picture is about the event at Lincoln Memorial where Luther King Junior delivered his famous speech. “I Have a Dream”
