Impact of Inequality

Social equity entails justice, fairness, and equality in the distribution of jobs in terms of race, ethnicity, and gender. Some major considerations involve people of color and women and the number of positions they occupy in the most powerful jobs and the well-paying careers in America. White males occupy the most powerful positions in the government showing a lot of inequality in the job distribution and pay for various groups in the US. Inequality has many impacts on the pay, benefit, and the society in the US.

The most common inequality in the US is racial and ethnic inequality especially for the people of color. Discrimination and inequality have negative effects on education, health, social benefits, and income distribution among different groups and the society. According to various statistics, a majority of individuals with a medium income was very low for the people of color while the whites took the largest share. The percentage of people living in poverty is also very low for the Whites compared to the other Americans such African-Americans, Latino, and Asians. In the US, racial and ethnic groupings have differences in their chances and their likelihood to get college degrees quite low. The situation leads to a higher child mortality rates compared to the whites as many cannot afford quality health services and childcare. The jobs that fetch high incomes require quality college education meaning only the whites can secure and earn higher salaries.

Various benefits in the US such as social security protect the American workers and families especially after retirement and disability. The high inequality is threatening the idea of the shared economic security as the ones that occupy the top position enjoy the benefits. Since the taxes are only on the wage income, the high-income earners who make their huge pay from capital gains benefit more than the lower rank employees do. The average and the low-income earners receive very low benefit from the insurance fund. With low benefits, the low-income earners and the discriminated groups may not have access to quality health and which reduces their life expectancy.

, education, and income distribution. Inequality lead individuals to compete and with one another in the purchasing power which are some of the situations leading to stress. Some issues such as crime, teenage pregnancy, which have a big association with poverty are common in countries with high-income inequality. Other issues in the society such as life expectancy, imprisonment, drug abuse, and social mobility are associated with inequality in terms of incomes, education, and health.

Inequality is the major cause of many problems experienced by various categories of people especially income, health, and education. Inequality affects the income earned by various groups of individuals in America such as low levels of income, education, and security for the people of color. The society suffers because of the inequality that exists as the rich have an advantage over the low and medium income earners as far as retirement benefits are concerned.
