I need you to write reaction paper for me for my history class-The Empire State: History of New York State. This class is an online winter class, every week we are having discussions on forum, we are posting posts and commenting each other-different students posts . But we are not going too deep with that discussions about each topic(Unit). We are talking there about different topics(Units) and moving to another. My professor wants us to write the reaction paper that will be only about one unit that we were already talking about and use only those sources from that particular Unit. I will upload for you all the sources for units 1-4 , so you can choose which one will work the best for you but I will suggest The Unit 4- Transportation/ Economic Expansion will be the best because has more sources and fits better questions from instructions but it is up to you. The Unit 1-Exploration and Settlement should be easy for you I think so you can do that one but also use only sources from Unit 1. You need to use only sources for Unit you choose. My professor wants us to write a paper so we can go deeper with the topic that we already have been talked about. On those forums we were answering our teacher questions but not with too many details. The paper has to be 5 pages long/double spaced/times new roman/font12.

This is a 4 ? 6 page reaction papers, reflecting your thoughts on one week?s reading. You can submit your paper any time before Jan 16th, paper will be due no later than January 16th?
Your reaction paper is your own 4 to 6 page (double-spaced) analytic response using one of the themes below, in which you draw generously on the week?s resources to make your point. Completed Reaction papers will be uploaded into assignments.

This paper is an opportunity to go into more detail than the forums and represents 30% of your total grade. Good luck.
Questions/Themes for Reaction Paper
The themes below are important and you should keep them in mind as you move through each init in class. These are the key ?hooks? that we will use when we think about how NYS and its people changed and developed over time.
– How and why did New York?s landscape change (or how was it transformed) during this period?
o For example, think about:
? Changes in transportation;
? Changes in residential living;
? Methods of business (including agriculture);
? Leisure activities
– Describe what you would take to be the main political factions or parties during this period, and what generally speaking motivated them and what their goals were?
o Consider this in light of the major political events of each period
– Describe a least one key development in the economy. What was important about it?
– Describe a least one key development in society. What was significant about it?
– What group gained power during this period, what group lost power, how, and why. You may define both ?power? and ?group? however you want ? just be clear about those definitions.

As we go through the class these will be the themes which will keep popping up. From the 17 to the mid 19th century New York was wide open, being settled, from the late 19th century into the 20th New Yorkers had to come to terms with this development and the darker side of capitalism.
Throughout this there are winners and losers. So what distinctive groups can be identified and who were the winners and losers.
