Health Monitoring

Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. SFDA divided into three
different sectors Food sector, Drug sector and Medical devices sector.
Question 1
Identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for the
organization/system.
By using SWOT analysis the points as follow:
Strengths Weakness
1. New technology systems.
2. Attracting excellent qualified and
expert staff and fresh graduate staff.
3. Conducting excellent reporting
services (e.g. call center 19999).
4. Valid database that can used for
conducting researches.
5. The staff having opportunities to
study and train through sponsored
scholarships internally or abroad
(self-development).
1. Short of staff (Males/Females).
2. Poor internal commination between
departments and male and female
sections.
3. Low number of conducted researches in
SFDA (One research center only).
4. A lot of effort that provided on training
the fresh graduate staff for increasing
their capability to handle the sensitive
tasks.
Opportunities Threats
1. Cooperation with GCC countries to
manage food, drugs and medical
devices registration.
2. Ministry of health cooperation and
support.
3. Cooperation with international
organization to improve staff
knowledge and work experiences
1. Increase the cost of registration new
different products (Food, Drugs and
Medical devices).
2. Decrease SFDA branches in Saudi
Arabia.
3. Increase the demand on products safety
service.
