Has the European Directives had an impact on the national grid do the directives make access easier for renewable energy producers?
Question ?The electricity grid is a highly capital intensive natural monopoly and in most EU member states has been developed under public or private ownership over decades. A recurring theme in EU Member States has been that access to the grid for new renewable energy producers has been at most impossible, at least problematic. Critically analyse how the two EU Directives, Directive 2001/77/EC and 2009/28/EC have attempted to address this problem; assess their approaches; and evaluate their success or otherwise.?
Please focus on the UK and other EU countries to highlight whether the Directives have attempted to help also highlight whether or not the National grid is willing to accept renewable energy sources when their output levels are highly variable etc¦.
