Each student shall select a chapter from the FBC (florida building code)  and analyze the entire chapter or concentrate on only one topic. For example the student

may select Chapter 9 in its
entirety, or limit the paper to the topic of automatic fire sprinklers only.

The paper shall analyze and articulate the relevant provisions, outline the benefit of the code requirement, and express his ideas over how the specific

requirement or chapter promotes and contributes to the protection of property, life safety, public health, and general welfare. The student is encouraged to research

historical events, catastrophes or instances where human life was put at risk due to the lack or inadequate compliance with the code minimum standards.

This course is one of the eight courses  in the Construction Management curriculum
which has a requirement for a writing assignment. The assignment gui delines are stated
below:

Assignment Requirements
The paper must be a minimum of  FIVE (5) PAGES  (NOT including cover sheet, table of
contents, index, list of references, etc.), double spaced, one (1”) inch borders all-around, in 12 point, “Arial” font. Cite all re ferences using APA (American

Psychological
Association) style. See the internet for APA style guides or template,

The paper will be graded based on the following evaluation criteria:

2.  Quality of Organization (20%)
3.  Expression of ideas (20%)
4.  Spelling, Grammar, and Punctuation (10%)
5.  Comprehension and relevance (20%)
6. Presentation (10%)

Due Date
Papers must be submitted on or before October 29
th
, 2014  at the  beginning of the
class. No paper will be allowed after the due date . No exceptions.
