I identify a gene in plants and then use BLAST to search for related genes in GenBank. In my BLAST search, I find a gene with a very low Expectation value (E value) in animals. What does this result suggest?
A. widespread presence of pseudogenes
B. DNA transposon hoppping
C. nothing, a low E value means very little
D. retrotransposon hopping from plants to animals or vice versa
E. conservation of the protein sequence and perhaps function from plants to animals
