There are three tasks to this short written assignment (1.5-2 pages):

1. Explain what is meant by the sociological imagination .

2. What value / purpose is there in the ability to understand the life experiences of people in this way?

3. Provide a concrete example of an experience, relevant to your professional field (early childhood studies), in which you can use the idea of the sociological imagination to think about. (If you don’t have a field write about being a student at a University).

**You must use at least two sources in this assignment, one must be Naiman and another must be an external academic source either a scholarly book or journal

**You need not subtitle the three tasks, but you must do each task separately and in it’s own paragraph.

**You do not need to write an introduction or a conclusion, doing so will waste space. Just focus on fulfilling the stated tasks of the assignment to the best of your ability.
