Energy that can Bring about Internal Body Animations

  1. In your own words, explain is meant by chi. Energy that can bring about internal body animations, which some people believe is a cure for some conditions, such as stress.
  1. In your own words, explain what fengshui is. Fengshui is a form of treatment, which involves the harmonization of things with the spirit and arouses the body for that particular happening.
  1. Why does Gallagher discuss fengshui? In other words, what is the relationship between fengshui and stimulation?

Fengshui has the power to change a person’s attitude on how he/she views a place or an item through stimulation

  1. On pages 155 – 59 , Gallagher discuss various types of school environments.  What are the characteristics of a positive school environment? The environment should provide some excitement to the learners, the environment should also be quiet for the learners to concentrate, and the place should provide some closeness between the learners.
  1. What does psychologist Peter Suedfeld mean when he says, “When it comes to stimulation levels in the modem world, less is more”? What is the difference between the terms “sensory deprivation” and “reduced stimulation”; which of the two terms does Suedfeld prefer and why?  According to Peter, many people do not like too much stimulation because it causes more stress them. Stimulation should be moderate to provide a preferable environment to the person.  Too much stimulation causes a lot of stress to people in the modern world. The term sensory deprivation refers to the confinement of a person such that he/she has no access to the environment including sound and light. Reduced stimulation refers to the state where individuals are in a quiet environment to reduce sensory overload.  He prefers the reducedare due to day-dreaming.
  2. What does AnnelieseKorner mean (p. 156) when she says, “The mother herself is such a rich sensory stimulus that a baby doesn’t need a lot of equipment”?  How does this relate to the theme of the chapter?

The mother’s presence is very important to the baby’s development. A child’s mother is not replaceable by anything including toys and play items.

The statement relates to the theme of the chapter, which is stimulation as the presence of the mother stimulates the child’s growth and development. The baby gets stimulation from his/her mother before birth, which enables him/her to respond positively to her presence.
