Electronic Health Records

With the changing technology, many health organizations have resulted to adopting electronic records in order to improve the quality of care. Going by the fact that electronic patient records will need more time and expertise, they attract differing views from nurses and other members of the health care profession. While many nurses have supported the idea electronic patient health records, and encouraged their use, many other nurses have rubbished the idea of electronic patient health records claiming they utilize the very valuable time that would be used to maximize patient care. Those that support electronic patient health records argue that they are a major element in improving patient outcomes. Few studies exist as to the role of electronic patient records in improving patient outcomes. There is, thus, need to do more research in this area, in order to promote the adoption of electronic health records in hospitals. The current research paper aims at investigating the role of electronic health records in improving patient outcomes.

In order to come up with credible results, scientific research strategies will be applied by the researcher. This will be a secondary research that will rely on existing data as the population of research. Several research papers that have researched on the topic will be analyzed and the research will draw conclusions from such literature. The aim of the conclusion will be to determine what the existing literature document about the role of electronic patient records in the improvement of patient outcomes in the clinical setting. In addition, to improve the credibility o results, peer-reviewed articles, not older than 10 years since publication will be chosen for his research.
