There are limited studies on elder abuse in nursing institutions in comparison to child abuse. Elder abuse consists of neglect by nursing practitioners, physical emotional, sexual, and financial exploitation. In the developed world, the demographics pint out to an increasing proportion of aged people, but this is also accompanied with social exclusion for elderly people. By the year 2030, older citizens in America will make up about 21% of entire population (Kerchner & Pegues, 1998) as quoted by Kinney (2012). There is a need for better prevention strategies as elder abuse is associated with increased injuries, mortality and morbidity among the elderly (Fulmer et al, 2001)
