Effective Leadership

The United States of America is the largest country in the world and taking up the presidential position in the country needs a highly capable individual who exhibits good leadership qualities. The country has had some of the greatest men leading the country to democracy leaders who made milestone decisions to transform the country into what it is today. This paper looks at effective leadership from the Franklin D. Roosevelt regime to present.

There have been twelve presidents since the Franklin D. Roosevelt regime who have all been faced problems and have used their leadership skills to steer the country on the right track. However, President John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton stand out for the way they handled the catastrophes facing the country during their regime. President JFK led the country when the black people in America were pushing for equal rights and freedoms as their white counterparts. The president was faced with a dilemma to either support the black people or be swayed by the white people who strongly opposed the agenda. He made the decision to have equal rights and freedoms to all the decision that did not go well with everyone. This shows that a leader should be steadfast in making his/her decisions no matter the consequences as long as they are the right decisions and stand by their actions. President JFK stood by his decision strongly even though the majority of the people who had voted him into power were whites as they were majority of the voters. President Clinton, on the other hand came up with feasible economic decisions which led to the stability of the American economy. The president improved the American economy through structures and programs which he pushed for to make the economy better. A leader should, therefore, come up with ideas and push for viable options that lead to the growth of the organization. A good leader looks for other ways to develop themselves and does not only stick with everything he/she finds but is innovative. The president is not an ordinary leadership position compared to leaders of organizations as president has to mind the people and satisfy the majority while at the same time looking at the effects of their decisions to their relations with other countries. This makes it difficult for the president of the United States which has many states and many international relations and it takes a strong leader to lead the nation.
