9/11 and Psychological Realism

The events of 9/11 forever shaped our National identity, landscape, and policy. In the days and years directly following this significant event in our history there have been countless works of fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry published that profoundly and uniquely capture the thoughts, feelings, and emotions associated with those who encountered these events both near and far. For this extra credit assignment I am asking you to identify a work of literature that addresses the events of 9/11 and could be considered Psychological Realism. Remember, that for our purposes, we are not looking for generic news articles or interviews, but rather creative non-fiction narratives, works of fiction, or poetry that centers on ones thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Once you identify a piece of literature that is appropriate I would like you to address the following questions in a short 5 paragraph essay.1) Describe the work: Is it fiction, non-fiction narrative, poetry, drama? What is the title of the work and what year was it published? Who authored the work, and what was their perspective? (for example: Is it from the perspective of a survivor? the child or spouse of a survivor? a global or national citizen watching from afar? etc.)
2) What is this work mostly describing? Give me a detailed summary of what the work is trying to convey to the reader.
3) What is the emotional tone of work, and who is the intended audience? Is the writer effective in creating an emotional response within the reader?
4) Describe how this work fits into our targeted genre of Psychological Realism. Provide text examples to support your answers.
